ABOUT
With a childhood filled with memories of a family-owned clothing manufacturing factory in downtown Los Angeles, Melissa developed a deep love for design and style. She received a sewing machine as a gift from her grandmother at the age of 6 which birthed the dream of becoming a designer. She pursued fashion design in high school where she took her first sewing class. A project her sewing teacher assigned required her and two other classmates to design a garment and enter it into a fashion show where she strutted down the runway in the dress she helped design. After high school, she decided to study Fashion Design for her Bachelors degree and took classes at Mount San Antonio College and transferred to Cal State University of Long Beach where she graduated. She was required to work in the industry for a class and she interned for celebrity stylist Zoe Costello who worked with the artists Halsey, Tyga, Migos and Saweetie. After interning for several months, she was hired to be the assistant stylist to Zoe but right around getting hired her focus shifted from fame to her faith. Throughout her college years she she sold garments and accessories she designed and created under her name Melissa Loor. Embracing a higher calling, she decided to rebrand and honor her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That is where My Lord Apparel was birthed.
